Implants

Missing teeth? Restore your confidence with dental implants.
We will work with you to find the best possible solution and restore your smile.

Whether through accident or decay, there's no doubt that losing teeth can have an emotional impact. Thankfully, we can use implant technology to replace missing teeth, enhance and rejuvenate the aesthetics of your smile, and prevent bone deterioration.

Alternatively, if you have a few or all of your teeth missing, one solution is to have dentures. A denture is made from hard-wearing material that mimics the look of teeth and gums to give your mouth a natural appearance. Your dentures will be made to fit snugly on your gums and you will be able to remove them for cleaning.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

A missing tooth doesn’t just impact your appearance, it can affect your ability to speak and chew, and overall oral health. Dental implants provide a great long-term solution and help restore function and confidence.

A dental implant is an artificial replacement of a tooth root made to look natural and designed to be long-lasting. It acts as a support or base for attaching individual crowns, multi-tooth bridges, or an entire dental prosthesis. Small but strong, it’s suitable for most adults with good general health.

YOUR DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT JOURNEY

Step 1
The first phase is where the implant is carefully placed in the jaw. The procedure is normally possible with local anaesthetic, or under light sedation, if you'd rather. The dental implant then needs to integrate fully with the jaw bone. This process usually takes between 6- 8 weeks.

Step 2
Once the implant has integrated successfully into the mouth,  a healing cap will be added to the implant fixture. Any modifications required to your temporary denture will be undertaken to allow you continue to wear it before your new tooth is placed.

Step 3
The final phase usually starts approximately 2 – 6 weeks after the second phase. During this phase, your new teeth crowns are created, fitted and tried in the mouth to make sure they fit comfortably and match your regular teeth colour to give you beautiful new smile.

HOW MANY DENTAL IMPLANTS DO I NEED?

The good news is that if you had to replace all of your teeth with dental implants, you would not need as many implants as teeth. Our implant dentist will carefully plan your treatment and, after taking detailed X-rays, scans and impressions as necessary, will tell you how many implants you need.

For denture stabilisation, we commonly place four or six implants, which are carefully positioned so that they can withstand the forces created by biting and chewing. After a period of healing (usually a few months) your permanent dentures will be attached to your implants using special fixtures.
